Position Overview:
Middle Park High School is seeking a passionate knowledgeable and highly motivated individual to lead its High School Lacrosse program as Head Coach. The Head Coach will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Middle Park High School boys lacrosse program fostering a positive and competitive environment that emphasizes sportsmanship teamwork character development and academic achievement. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of lacrosse fundamentals strategies and player development as well as a commitment to building a sustainable and successful program within the Grand County community.
Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership & Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive coaching philosophy and program vision for Middle Park High School Lacrosse.
- Plan organize and conduct effective and engaging practices that develop individual player skills and team strategies.
- Oversee all aspects of game day preparation and in-game coaching including strategy substitutions and player management.
- Foster a positive team culture that promotes respect discipline accountability and a strong work ethic.
- Work collaboratively with the Athletic Director to schedule games practices and team events.
- Develop and manage the programs budget in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
- Ensure compliance with all Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) rules and regulations as well as Middle Park High School and East Grand School District policies.
- Player Development & Mentorship:
- Instruct and develop players of varying skill levels in fundamental lacrosse techniques advanced strategies and positional play.
- Promote proper physical conditioning nutrition and injury prevention.
- Act as a positive role model and mentor emphasizing character development leadership and sportsmanship.
- Monitor student-athlete academic progress and encourage academic excellence.
- Provide constructive feedback and evaluation to players for continuous improvement.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Establish and maintain open and effective communication with student-athletes parents assistant coaches school administration and the Athletic Director.
- Organize and lead parent meetings to communicate program goals expectations and schedules.
- Recruit train and supervise assistant coaches fostering a collaborative coaching staff.
- Collaborate with other Middle Park High School athletic programs and coaches to promote a positive school-wide athletic culture.
- Engage with the Granby and surrounding communities to promote the lacrosse program and build support.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of player eligibility attendance and equipment.
- Ensure all necessary paperwork and clearances are completed for coaching staff and student-athletes.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with coaching techniques and best practices.
- Oversee the proper care and maintenance of all lacrosse equipment and facilities.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous coaching experience in lacrosse at the high school or club level.
- Demonstrated knowledge of lacrosse rules strategies and player development techniques.
- Strong leadership communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student-athletes parents and colleagues.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain immediately upon hire).
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check required by East Grand School District.
- Preferred:
- Bachelors degree in a related field (e.g. Physical Education Sports Management).
- Collegiate lacrosse playing experience.
- US Lacrosse coaching certification (e.g. Level 1 Level 2).
- Experience coaching in a mountain community setting or understanding of unique challenges/opportunities (e.g. travel facility access).
- Experience with CHSAA rules and regulations.
