Supports the work of a certificated school psychologist assists each with planning and carrying out programs and services to enable children to attain maximum achievement. Provides a variety of evaluation interviewing and clerical services such as those described below and refrains from performing services limited by their training and experience (see below).
Essential Job Functions:
- Performs clerical tasks including: filing copying scheduling meetings disseminating and gathering student information/data and writing various letters memos and reports regarding student data/progress.
- Gathering and organizing data related to student performance behavior and emotional well-being for use in evaluations.
- Collaborates with the school psychologist related services coordinator special education coordinator special education director and building principal on a regular basis.
- Maintains standards of confidentiality as required by federal state and local policy.
Services of the Psychologist Assistant MAY include:
- Assesses PreK-12 student academic performance/progress via: standardized achievement tests curriculum-based measurement dynamic indicators of basic early literacy skills interviews (parents students school personnel) and observations of students.
- Intervenes with students through planning and training with the school psychologist or intervention specialist (e.g. academic groups social emotional groups individual student academic interventions etc.).
- Observes students in the classroom regarding academic and/or behavioral concerns;
- Review student records and prepare files for school psychologist to conduct evaluations;
- Organize distribute and score rating scales;
- Provides case management support.
- Other duties as assigned.
