Course subtitle: Literature in Motion

In this course students will learn to use digital methods and tools for multilingual text analysis and to track the circulation and reception of literary texts across cultures and digital platforms. Students will develops foundational and technical skills for working with large datasets including curation analysis and visualisation with the goal of developing a digital publication that engages with critical ideas surrounding dissemination and engagement with literature. This will include principles for data management textual encoding and digital publishing.

Requirements:

PhD in translation studies or comparative literature with specialization in digital cultures/digital humanities methodologies. This course requires expertise working with digital tools and methods for multilingual text analysis and for tracking circulation and reception of texts across digital platforms. This includes experience preparing and managing large data sets for analysis (OpenRefine Git and GitHub) undertaking data analysis and visualization (with R (tidyverse ggplot2 Bibliometrix) Power BI Tableau and Gephi) and experience with textual encoding (NVivo HTML CSS ) and digital publishing (Wordpress and Drupal). Experience teaching these tools and leading digital research projects is required.
