NOTICE OF VACANCY

POSITION: HHSStudent Government Association (SGA) Sponsor (Job # 3029)

LOCATION: Huntingtown High School

JOB SUMMARY:

The Students Government Association sponsor is the representative of the Principal for school and community activities related to the SGA. The SGA sponsor is also responsible for monitoring SGA activities within his/her school building. This may include school dances fundraisers and service projects. Additionally the SGA sponsor will be responsible for conducting elections for school-wide offices and the Student Member of the Board of Education. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.

REPORTS TO: School Principal

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  2. Demonstrates management leadership and human relations skills
  3. Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions
  4. Proven ability to carry an assignment to its completion
  5. Demonstrates success in accomplishing tasks akin to the duties and responsibilities listed below
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work cooperatively with Principal and/or his/her designee in planning SGA events for students
  2. Conduct elections for school-wide offices such as class president and student-body president
  3. Conduct primary elections for the regional Student Member of the Board of Education candidate
  4. Chaperone SGA fieldtrips to Calvert Association of Student Councils General Assembly meetings
  5. Serve as contact person to community and other school groups related to SGA activities
  6. Work cooperatively with other sponsors in events mutually planned for students
  7. Handle proceeds from fundraisers and school activities in a manner consistent with CCPS policies and procedures
  8. Perform other duties related to SGA as assigned by the Principal

Performs related work as required or assigned by the Principal and/or Secondary Supervisor of Social Studies

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience applied to the current year Extra Pay for Extra Duty Longevity Pay Schedule.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.

This position remains open until filled. Interviews may begin as early as June 6 2025. References must be directly related to work experience and must include immediate supervisor.
