Job Description

Automotive/Diesel Tool Room Paraeducator

LOCATION: Cascadia Technical Academy (CTA)

REPORTS TO: Instructor/Program Administrator

DEPARTMENT: Cascadia Technical Academy (CTA)

Hours / Work Times

7 Hours Per Day (7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. includes 30 minute unpaid lunch)

190 Days Per Year (180 student days / 10 holidays)

This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 06/13/2025.

A valid First Aid/CPR card must be submitted to Classified Personnel within45 days of hire. Only courses with a hands-on component taught by a certified instructor are acceptable.

This position is expected to begin August 26 2025

Must meet Paraeducator Employment Requirements as follows*:

  1. Be at least eighteen (18) years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent;AND
  2. Must meet one or more of the following:
  • Have received a passing score of 455 or higher on the Education Testing Service ParaPro Assessment (ETS test/PRAXIS);or
  • Hold an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university;or
  • Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university;or
  • Have completed a Paraeducator Apprenticeship Program (program must be registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council).

*If you do not meet the required qualifications listed above your name will be screened out from the list of qualified candidates.

Upon hire new paraeducators will be required to complete state required training offered through Evergreen School District.

Salary Placement: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. However employees who have verified prior years of service of similar occupational experience may receive experience credit towards salary step placement.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Under the supervision of the program instructor(s) and Program Administrator the Paraeducator will oversee the Tool Room and distribute tools working closely with high school students on an individual and small group basis. The Paraeducator will order materials and supplies; maintain an inventory of tools equipment and supplies; complete program paperwork as requested; and maintain records for the program as requested.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assist the Automotive and Diesel instructors in the following ways:

  1. Maintain organize checkout and account for the return of tools from the Automotive/Diesel tool room.
  2. Order parts for vehicles and track/organize invoices.
  3. Communicate effectively with students staff and the general public.
  4. Order and receive program supplies and materials as needed.
  5. Order and receive orders of vehicle and machinery/equipment parts as needed.
  6. Maintain accurate program records of budgeting supply and material orders.
  7. Perform inventory process and other end-of-year program activities.
  8. Work with tools commonly used in the Automotive and Diesel trades.
  9. Maintain MSDS records for the Automotive and Diesel programs and be familiar with the District hazardous waste plan.
  10. Assist in establishing and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  11. Attend various training sessions as necessary.
  12. Perform First Aid/CPR when necessary.

  1. Perform other related duties as assigned.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY:

Computer/laptop telephone copy machines all common tools used in the automotive/diesel trade and all other tools and equipment necessary to perform the essential functions as listed above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

(Testing may be required.)

  1. Light typing/keyboarding skills of 35-50 wpm.
  2. Familiarity of word processing spreadsheets and general computer literacy.
  3. Must possess familiarity with common tools used in the Automotive and diesel repair trades.
  4. Must be able to lift and carry tools for expedient distribution to students and staff between two programs up to two hours at a time.
  5. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students staff customers parents and industry partners.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups to include high school students customers staff and vendors.
  7. Demonstrated ability to perform under conditions of constant interruption.
  8. Must possess organizational skills and the ability to follow through.
  9. Must possess personal characteristics of flexibility initiative cooperativeness confidentiality and assertiveness.
  10. Most possess a current First Aid/CPR card or be able to acquire within 45 days of employment.
  11. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others as part of a team.
