The Multilingual Learner (ML) Teacher is responsible for delivering a high-quality instructional experience consistent with the curriculum standards of the school district. Essential duties for all faculty members include classroom instruction conferences with students parents and colleagues; and active participation in the work of the department on curriculum development activities and JOB DUTIES (NOT LIMITED TO): Prepare and deliver instructional lessons with clear measurable objectives aligned with Common Core State and WIDA Frameworks to meet the diverse needs of students; Monitor and supervise students through effective classroom management; Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement; Provide culturally responsive and asset-based learning experiences for students from a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. Follow safety procedures and instructions to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. Communicate effectively with students colleagues parents and the community. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students colleagues and parents/families concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of students; Follow professional practices consistent with the districts policies in working with students parents and colleagues; Attend and participate in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy; Maintain and improve professional competence through attendance at professional development events and by self-generated activities that meet district expectations and the requirements for recertification; Use a variety of current research-based second-language teaching techniques to support student learning. Design and demonstrate differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students. Implement accommodations and curricular modifications as specified in students educational plans (IEPs) for dually identified students. Use a range of formal and informal WIDA-aligned assessments to measure student progress and inform instruction. Set student growth goals based on assessment outcomes. Create and execute Student Success Plans for those students who have not met their target goal set by DESE. Collect communicate and maintain a record of assessment data to document student progress in English Language Development. Collaborate effectively with colleagues to design culturally proficient curriculum lessons and assessments that center the unique needs of multilingual students. Collaborate with the Multilingual Department and ESL teachers across the district to ensure consistency and share best practices. Work with administrators to prepare ACCESS 2.0 and MCAS testing schedules and identify appropriate accommodations for all students.
