Description

Position Title: Digital Edge Coordinator Department: Career Center

Title of Immediate Supervisor/Leader to Whom This Position Reports: Director of the Career Center

*Expected Daily Work Hours: 8:00am 5:00pm *Expected Weekly Work Schedule: Monday Friday

* College offices are normally open from 8:00 AM until 5:00PM Monday through Friday. However due to the nature of responsibility to the student body individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening or weekend hours. Non-exempt employees will normally work 8 hours per (any hours more than 40 per week) for non-exempt employees is required to be approved in advance by the department supervisor. Exempt employees will typically work at least 40 hours per week and such additional time as may be reasonably required to fulfill the obligations of their position description. Such additional work may include evenings and weekends and should be described in this document.

Summary of this position:

This is a grant-funded entry level position funded through the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) Digital Skills Employment and Workforce Development (DSEW) grant (coming from the Tennessee Emergency Broadband Fund American Rescue Plan (TEBF-ARP). This position works collaboratively with faculty staff and students and directs the successful implementation execution and marketing of the Maryville College Digital Edge Program a program designed to enhance the digital skills of students and employees of the college. This position will play a pivotal role in student success by providing students with technical and career guidance during the process of exploring selecting and completing digital skills training.

Minimum Qualifications Required: (please be specific and respond to every question; indicate none if not applicable)

Education required to ensure success in this position:

  • Bachelors degree required.

Experience required to ensure success in this position:

  • 1 years of experience working in higher education preferred.
  • 1 years of experience managing grant-funded programs preferred.
  • Prior experience using online learning platforms or similar services required.

Special skills knowledge and abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences particularly in writing.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide effective instructions and guidance on the usage of online learning platforms.
  • Familiarity with managing and analyzing data.

License certification or registration necessary:

  • None required.

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds.
  • May be required to lift/move up to 10 pounds (4.3 kilograms).
  • Able to walk sit stand and handle objects for intervals of time.

Environmental conditions:

  • Professional office environment with interruptions and noise due to frequent visitors students staff and faculty.

Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:

  • Skilled in MS Office Suite programs and web-based software.
  • Standard office equipment; computer phone etc.
  • Exceptional computer skills and knowledge of database applications.

Primary duties and responsibilities (Typically 7 primary duties comprised of 80% of the responsibilities):

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Advises students on how to access research and complete courses offered via the online learning platform.
  • Collaborates with staff and faculty to facilitate the inclusion of digital skills education in the classroom and in academic support service programs and to aid in the completion of digital skills learning completed by them.
  • Creates presentations and marketing materials relevant to the Digital Edge Program to be used both online in print and in other mediums.
  • Meets with students to provide career advice and to help them discover opportunities to strengthen their digital skills including advising students on how improved digital skills can support their career goals and career paths.
  • Collects manages and analyzes data gathered as part of the program.
  • Composes reports about the Digital Edge Program to share with relevant stakeholders including the grant supplier and other relevant parties.
  • Collaborates effectively with the Information Technology Department to facilitate access to the online learning platform and borrowing of course materials and equipment.
  • Works closely with the program partners to assess career fields where digital skills are needed and align program content for participants to build digital skills in these relevant career fields.
  • Align resources with workforce development program partners where applicable.
  • Coordinates with the Human Resources Department and the Faculty Professional Development Committee on administering the online learning platform for faculty and staff participants.
  • Works closely with the online courseware provider company to customize program content specific to Maryville Colleges Digital Edge Program and to ensure the system can track the data needed and produce reports to document progress toward project goals and outcomes.
  • Oversees process for issuing licenses or subscriptions for online courseware provider for all program participants and for issuing laptops or digital devices to participants as needed.
  • Assists the Director of the Career Center in managing the project budget working with the Controller to submit grant financial expenditure reports and reimbursement requests.
  • Provide guidance to participants on options to complete micro credential or other professional certification tests through the online courseware system or offered by third-party providers.
  • Ensures that all goals of the Digital Edge Program are successfully met.

Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive respectful learning environment for all staff faculty and students.
