Accounting Specialist / AR Focus
Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist with a focus on Accounts Receivable (AR) to join their accounting team. This role is crucial in assisting in maintaining financial data and ensuring smooth operations within the accounting department.
Job Overview
As an Accounting Specialist with an AR focus you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our accounts receivable processes processing payroll and supporting various accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles excellent attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable Management
- Process customer invoices credit memos and payments in a timely manner
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Monitor and follow up on overdue accounts implementing collection procedures when necessary
- Prepare and analyze accounts receivable aging reports
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve billing inquiries and disputes
- Implement and maintain effective credit policies and procedures
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes related to accounts receivable
Payroll Processing
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees ensuring accuracy and compliance with labor laws
- Calculate and process various payroll deductions including taxes benefits and garnishments
- Maintain employee payroll records and update information as needed
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll-related matters
- Assist in the preparation and filing of payroll tax returns
- Stay current with changes in payroll regulations and update processes accordingly
General Accounting Support
- Assist in the preparation of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements
- Participate in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the accounting department
- Collaborate with other team members on special projects and ad-hoc reporting as needed
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting with a strong focus on accounts receivable
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel
- Experience with payroll processing and related tax regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
