Function:To help provide instructional services that will enable each student to master the reading skills appropriate to age grade level and individual capacity. Instruction will be provided in a classroom setting. The Reading Teacher works directly under the School Principal.
Essential Duties and Respnsibilites:Interprets student needs and progress in reading remediation to the classroom teacher and the for students assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor and /or with parents concerning individual students having special reading problems or requiring special help and with any parents requesting such a individual student reading record attendance records and all records pertinent to the reading program for city and state with the advice of the students regular classroom teacher an instructional program for each assigned student receiving reading with each assigned student on a regularly scheduled daily basis to provide in the selection of varied instructional materials equipment audio-visual aids bits and the students to set and maintain standards of classroom student progress regularly. Attends scheduled staff meetings and committee meetings as with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals objectives and for their professional growth through an ongoing program of reading workshops seminars conferences and/or advanced coursework at an institute of higher in the screening evaluating and recommending placement of students who are referred for other general related tasks as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications:RIDE certified Reading Teacher/SpecialistThree (3) years of successful teaching experience. Preparation in a graduate-level program for reading specialists with at least six (6) semester hours of clinic or practicum to relate with students and establish a good rapport with classroom teachers and as a Reading Teacher preferred
