Job Description

PPG Aerospace is the worlds leading supplier of aircraft transparencies serving worldwide markets with the full range of product designs. Manufacturing is a complex job-shop environment in which simultaneous production is in progress on hundreds of product designs using a wide variety of complex technologies. Products are produced in relatively low volume and have very high unit value. New product introductions occur continuously. You will report to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering and Lean.

PPG Aerospace is seeking aManufacturing Engineer to evaluate and develop processes applied to manufacture various transparency products that must meet specialized design and performance specifications! As a Manufacturing Engineer you will cover all areas of Safety Quality Manufacturing Performance Improvement Process and Capital Improvement and Personal Growth. You will provide hands-on technical support in manufacturing processes and collaborate with our customers technical team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide manufacturing support including investigating and performing root cause analysis on non-conforming products and solve problems with production and take corrective action.
  • Support analysis of returned product to determine corrective action and coordinate product repair.
  • Provide hands-on technical support in all manufacturing processes more specific Polycarbonate panels forming process.
  • Define tooling requirements.
  • Collaborate with tooling during design and multiple tooling stages.
  • Collaborate with design and development groups on new products.
  • Develop Bills of Material and Manufacturing Work Instructions (Travelers) for both current and new jobs.
  • Examine processes operations assembly and equipment to determine time or quality revisions and suggest improvements.
  • Will have priorities including reduction of setup time variation reduction and an overall improvement in process capability and consistency using Lean Manufacturing concept.

Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Engineering and 3 years related experience.
  • Experience in Aerospace and Defense preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or similar Continuous Improvement training / background preferred.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident required.
  • Ability to acquire security clearances a plus.
