Job Description

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma with additional college level work in business courses preferred.
  2. School experience preferred
  3. Proficient in the use of microcomputers to include spreadsheet database and word processing applications
  4. Knowledge of basic office procedures and equipment
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

FLSA Status:Non Exempt

Reports to:RISE Academy Administrator

Background Check Required: (Ala. Code 16-22A-5) upon offer of employment employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks must not be more than 10 years old.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  1. Skilled and effective in oral and written communication
  2. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students parents colleagues and community members
  3. Proficiency in technology programs such as Google and Microsoft Office Suite etc.
  4. Ability to perform the clerical duties required at the school
  5. Ability to multitask and prioritize
  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged information obtained in the course of work
  7. Desire and ability to engage in continuing education and skills upgrading
  8. Knowledge and understanding of the school system rules administrative procedures local board policy and state and federal rules and regulations
  9. Possesses the physical and emotional stability to fulfill the contract period

Essential Functions:

  1. Greets visitors in a courteous and professional manner; provides information and handles routine business associated with a busy productive and smoothly run office
  2. Directs callers and visitors to the appropriate personnel and provides general information when requested
  3. Provides assistance to school administration teachers parents and students in order to assure the students success in the schools program
  4. Prepares correspondence letters memoranda reports statements and other necessary material from data copies or rough drafts.
  5. Prepares material for beginning and ending of school year
  6. Maintains office supplies and materials
  7. Receives examines and routes incoming mail and correspondence
  8. Maintains files and other material to facilitate prompt access and replies
  9. Responsible for maintaining student attendance records
  10. Prepares and maintain payroll records
  11. Responsible for requesting purchase orders and maintaining teacher accounts
  12. Processing required documentation for field trips professional leave contracts and travel
  13. Maintains a professional appearance as appropriate for job responsibilities
  14. Maintains and improves knowledge and skills to promote proficiency in the operation of an organized modern updated and efficient office
  15. Participates in workshops and professional development activities and applies what is learned to the job; accepts new challenges in a professional manner
  16. Performs other duties within the scope of his/ her employment as may be assigned
  17. Organizes office volunteers as directed by the supervisor
  • This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools.
  • Under the Students First Act of 2011 no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.

Expected Employment:187days/8hrs (full year)

Evaluation:According to established Board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines.

SalaryRange: According to Madison City Schools Salary Schedule (Salary based on employment for complete year). Up to 10 years experience will be counted for new employees who provide documentation of full-time experience in the area of concentration.
