Position Summary
The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for the position of Instructional Design Assistant. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative teaching practices and course development within a vibrant academic department. The primary responsibility of the Instructional Design Assistant is to support the design and implementation of pedagogically sound instructional materials with a specific focus on a new course examining the historical foundations of psychology.
Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills in academic or professional settings. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Interest in pedagogical innovation and enhancing student learning through evidence-based approaches. Familiarity with basic educational technologies (e.g. learning management systems such as Canvas Microsoft Office Google Workspace).
Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Course work in Psychology Neuroscience or a related field. Prior experience in instructional design educational research teaching assistance or curriculum development. Exposure to or coursework in the history of psychology or philosophy of science. Experience with digital tools for content creation (e.g. video editing software graphic design tools web-based learning platforms). Familiarity with inclusive teaching practices and principles of Universal Design for Learning ( UDL ). A desire to pursue graduate studies or a career in psychology neuroscience education or a related field.
