Other Conditions: Lecturer applicant pool for Academic Year 2025 - 2026. Positions are part-time temporary non-tenure and contingent upon course offerings sufficient student enrollment position clearance and availability of funding. May be for courses during the day evening off-campus and/or via distance learning as needed. Most DATA courses at UH Hilo are taught in-person on campus but occasionally openings may only be available for classes taught via the Internet.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Teach assigned courses in the data science curriculum. Courses that may be covered by a Data Science (DATA) lecturer are described in the UH Hilo catalog: minimum of one on-campus in-person office hour per week for each course taught.
2. Prepare course schedule syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress.
3. Work under the supervision of the data science program coordinator.
4. Committed to principles of higher education and philosophy.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Masters degree or Ph. D. in data science or in an area closely related to the course(s) taught. Those not meeting minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis for instance substantial industry experience may substitute for lack of a Masters degree.
2. Proficient in Python or R

Desirable Qualifications

1. Experience teaching data science Python R machine learning or statistics courses at the university or community college level.
2. Industry or research experience related to data science.
