Job Description

Position Summary


This position is responsible for the processing delivery and monitoring of drug therapy for all inpatients outpatient IV therapy and chemotherapy to ensure patient safety and quality care. Collaboratively work with providers and all other health care professionals to optimize and individualize drug therapy for each patient. The pharmacist will work directly with the pharmacy technician and director of pharmacy for all pharmacy operations. Pharmacist will maintain adequate records to comply with state and federal guidelines.


Key Accountabilities

  • Maintains a level of service which is consistent with modern concepts and advances in the delivery of institutional pharmaceutical services.
  • Must exercise sound administrative and professional judgement consistent with a high level of patient care and patient safety.
  • Requires the ability to work efficiently under broad guidelines and must frequently exercise his/her own judgement in decision making.
  • Requires a very high degree of accuracy errors could result in patient harm.
  • Safety of all patients of all ages maintained by collaboratively working with providers to ensure optimal drug therapy is ensured and monitored.
  • Provide counseling to patients upon discharge and upon request to ensure optimal medication understanding and disease management.
  • Review and conduct medication reconciliations for each patient to aid in diagnosis and appropriate initiation of drug regimens during hospital stay.
  • Preparation and validation of IV therapy compounds including chemotherapy.
  • Assist with 340B operations and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with the pharmacy team on routine projects for improving patient safety.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Doctorate of Pharmacy degree program.
  • Active pharmacist license in the state of Nebraska
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Sterile IV preparation is preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work for long periods of time as required with short periods of standing walking and lifting pharmacy supplies.

Work Environment

  • Personal protective equipment required for sterile compounding.
  • Exposure to blood borne pathogens cleaning/sterilizing solutions and hazardous pharmaceutical products.
