PATH is seeking candidates passionate about helping others make a positive change in their lives to join our Philanthropy & Community Affairs team as the Director of Philanthropy and Community Affairs at the RHC Office.

ABOUT PATH
Since its foundation in 1984 PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) has pioneered bold and effective approaches to assist people experiencing homelessness. PATH operates services throughout California connecting our clients to a comprehensive continuum of homelessness prevention street outreach employment preparation and placement assistance individualized case management supportive services interim housing and permanent supportive housing.

ABOUT THE JOB
As part of the Philanthropy & Community Affairs team the Director of Philanthropy and Community Affairsis responsible for raising more than $3 million annually through the planning and implementation of a comprehensive program to obtain gifts from individuals and corporations. In addition the Director will support regional Community Affairs teams who manage robust volunteer and in-kind giving programs across the state creating systems to further engage cultivate and steward PATH supporters. The Director will also carry a portfolio of prospects and donors in the $1000 to $25000 range.

Position Responsibilities include:

  • Under the direction of the Chief External Affairs Officer plan implement and oversee Individual Giving programs including Direct Mail Online Giving Matching Gifts Planned Giving and other revenue streams
  • Develop strategy track progress and evaluate metrics on all Individual Giving programs to increase revenue warm donors and build a pipeline to major gifts
  • Carry a portfolio of mid-level donors and prospects moving through the identification cultivation solicitation and stewardship stages as appropriate
  • Mentor direct reports and colleagues in donor outreach Develop strategy for all Individual Giving solicitation communications including working with direct reports and colleagues on messaging donor communications and segmenting of lists
  • Partner with communications staff to develop donor-centric content. Mentor direct reports in best practices for mail and online fundraising program management
  • Mentor and coach PATHs Philanthropy and Community Affairs teams
  • Oversee the Planned Giving program including confirming gift intentions stewarding donors creating collateral and soliciting planned gifts
  • Work collaboratively with the Special Events team to create engagement opportunities for donors and prospects
  • Oversee development operations to ensure proper gift entry acknowledgement and coding and to pull accurate mailing and prospect lists from The Donor Perfect database
  • Manage team expense budgets and revenue projections. Write quarterly reports on Philanthropy and Community Affairs programs and projects
  • Represent PATHs mission to corporate faith and community organizations across the state to ensure ongoing support of PATHs work
  • Work to build strategies to ensure the ongoing growth and expansion of PATHs network of key partners and stakeholders Build effective strategies to engage new volunteers and supporters
  • Oversee employee performance evaluations conduct regular and routine supervision meetings ensure timely review and management of timesheets and attendance issues in a consistent manner provide recognition and corrective action as needed address concerns and facilitate problem resolutions.
  • Represent the company in employment-related matters as part of supervisory responsibilities including participation in court proceedings unemployment hearings and other relevant legal or regulatory processes.
  • Attend and actively engage in all required training sessions as assigned by the company and apply learned skills and knowledge to daily tasks and responsibilities.
  • Attend and actively engage in all required staff meetings and events on and off-site (when applicable).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Eight (8) years of experience in fundraising in a social service health care or higher education non-profit organization
  • Six (6) years of supervisory experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Six (6) years of experience in fundraising in a social service health care or higher education non-profit organization
  • Four (4) years of supervisory experience

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Regardless of qualifications candidates must:

  • Have employment eligibility verification
  • Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training
  • Successfully complete the following as a condition of hire:
    • Tuberculosis Test
    • Background Screening
    • Drug Test

Driving is an essential function of this position. To meet the employment requirements for this role all candidates must:

  • Have reliable transportation
  • A valid drivers license
