Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are looking for local residents to join the Independent Remuneration Panel (IRP) as an Independent Panel Members which makes recommendations to the Council on the type and level of allowances paid to district councillors.
About the role
The work involves carrying out a review of the existing allowances scheme taking into account changes to the roles and responsibilities of district councillors.
The Panel will meet (typically one review every 1 to 2 years) to gather information and prepare reports with recommendations for consideration by each full Council. This usually involves a time commitment of up to 6 meetings during the course of any review (an allowance of 500 plus travel expenses is provided per review). The appointment will be for a period of four years with the opportunity for re-appointment for a further four years.
