Position Summary
The Facilities Assistant is responsible for supporting the daily maintenance safety and cleanliness of SafePlaces facilities. This role ensures that all physical spaces are functional welcoming and safe for staff volunteers and program participants. Duties include custodial tasks including laundry shelter room turn-overs inventory and supply stocking and may include light landscape upkeep. This is a hands-on role that works closely with the Facilities Manager to support the organizations program and administrative teams. Full job description is available by emailing
Key Responsibilities
Perform full custodial services at administrative and shelter facilities
Ensure interior and exterior spaces are clean safe and meet agency standards
Monitor and replenish facility supplies (e.g. cleaning products restroom supplies)
Respond to work order requests in a timely manner prioritizing the timely turn-over of emergency shelter rooms
Assist with office moves furniture assembly and equipment setup
Participate in emergency and safety preparedness efforts
Maintain accurate records of facility work and safety standards in conjunction with the Facilities Manager
May Support set-up and breakdown for organizational events and trainings
Attend regular team meetings and required trainings
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
1 years of facilities custodial or maintenance experience
Ability to perform physical tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs bending standing)
Basic knowledge proper chemical use and storage and custodial equipment
Strong communication and time management skills
Ability to maintain stringent standards of confidentiality and work respectfully within a trauma-informed setting
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
Preferred:
Familiarity with safety procedures and OSHA standards
Experience in nonprofit or residential program settings
Bilingual or multilingual (especially Spanish ASL or languages spoken in Thurston County)
