    POSITION SUMMARY:
    This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of food and non-food purchasing duties under the supervision of the Director of Nutrition Services for multiple programs including but not limited to NSLP SBP CFP FFVP SFSP LFP and catering orders. This position includes administrative duties such as data entry recordkeeping database management reporting budgetary management and accounts payable. This position will also assist with any other needs of the department and be required to provide staff relief in emergency situations when understaffed. The Purchasing Manager must exercise considerable independence good judgment and initiative in planning purchasing inventory control and reporting duties. All work must be performed in accordance with USDA CDE and district policies.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Manage all usage reports weekly monthly and annually for food vendors distributors and manufacturers as needed.
    • Manage weekly short and sub list from prime food distributor ensuring proper substitutes are provided.
    • Review weekly food and non-food site orders to Prime Vendor and other approved distributors for accuracy and cost control.
    • Communicate with food vendors and representatives regularly on industry updates products (discontinued and new) regulations and product information.
    • Communicate regularly with kitchen managers in regard to orders shorts and subs.
    • Update order guides and products with accurate descriptions nutrition information pricing and upload Child Nutrition statements to program software.
    • Assist Director of Nutrition Services with special diets food purchasing and inventory controls.
    • Participate in regular meetings with Food Purchasing Cooperative
    • Manage catering requests including but not limited to email correspondence food purchasing invoicing scheduling production and set-up/clean-up.
    • Support the Director of Nutrition Services with entitlement to ensure draw down of processing pounds is used to the full extent annually through strategic purchasing.
    • Ensure timely delivery of food and supplies to all sites from vendors through proper forecasting ordering and communicating with appropriate personnel.
    • Support with invoice processing for food and supply vendors.
    • Ensure NOI and drawdown is accurate on invoices.
    • Apply and implement knowledge skills and new understandings to support the system and processes.
    • Provide excellent customer service.
    • Demonstrate patience with stakeholders when implementing new systems policies/procedures etc.
    • Attend conferences trainings and other professional development to remain current on Child Nutrition Programs as available.
    • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

    SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Manage purchasing for the department and oversee kitchen managers weekly orders and inventory.

    BUDGET AND/OR RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Oversee site orders inventory and food vendor pricing to ensure cost control and accurate recordkeeping. Submit timely and precise reports to vendors as cost and funding may be impacted.

    EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
    High school graduate or equivalent.
    Bachelors degree in Nutrition Food Service Management Hospitality or related field (preferred).
    Three (3) years in school food service purchasing or closely related job experience preferred.
    English fluency will be determined through the interview process.

    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
    Valid Colorado Drivers License.
    Current ServSafe Certification required or ability to obtain upon hire.

    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Frequent lifting 5 (five) to 10 (ten) pounds.
    Occasional lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds.
    Frequent sitting bending walking and standing.
    Occasional stooping kneeling squatting and reaching.
    Eye/hand coordination (e.g. typing ten key).
    Concentrated reading/writing/mathematics.
    Visual concentration on equipment.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
    Regular exposure to odors moisture (wet/humid) extreme heat and cold and moving mechanical parts.
    Occasional exposure to extreme weather hazardous materials and bodily fluids.
    Mostly clean and comfortable.

    Director of Nutrition Services

    LOCATION:
    Nutrition Services Administrative Offices; school kitchens as needed

    SALARY:
    Starting hourly rate is $29.69 - $33.61 per hour based upon education and prior related experience.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    New hires or rehires will be responsible for the fingerprint processing fee required for background checks through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
