Job Description

Job Summary

The Before School Program Coordinator is responsible for the supervision and care of students enrolled in the morning extended care program. This individual fosters a welcoming respectful and safe environment aligned with the Catholic mission of the school. The coordinator oversees daily operations of the before-school program including student check-in basic activities and safety procedures.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all students in the program.

  • Greet and check in students as they arrive for before-school care.

  • Plan and facilitate age-appropriate quiet morning activities (e.g. reading crafts board games).

  • Maintain a calm respectful and structured environment conducive to the start of the school day.

  • Communicate positively and professionally with parents guardians school staff and administration.

  • Keep accurate attendance records and incident reports when necessary.

  • Ensure that all policies regarding student supervision emergency procedures and child protection are followed.

  • Maintain a clean and organized space for student use.

Job Requirements

  • Prior experience working with children in a school or childcare setting.

  • Ability to supervise and engage children ages insert grade levels e.g. K8.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Must complete and maintain Safe Environment training (e.g. VIRTUS) and pass background checks required by the Diocese.

  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Experience in Catholic education or familiarity with the values of a faith-based learning environment.

  • Ability to manage small groups of children independently and responsibly.

  • Flexibility punctuality and reliability.
