Job Description
Overview
Founded in 1895 by the Sisters of Mercy St. Josephs was the first hospital in the Phoenix area. More than 125 years later St. Josephs remains dedicated to its mission of caring for the poor and underserved. Operated by St. Josephs Hospital Huger is an assisted- living facility for people with dementia. The grassy five- acre campus was established nearly 20 years ago due in part to the generosity of the late Dr. Raymond Huger a St. Josephs psychiatrist whose wife had Alzheimers disease. He envisioned a facility where residents could remain active while being treated with dignity and respect. Today that vision is a reality for the 48 residents who call Huger home; many will live their final days here. Every detail at Huger is carefully crafted to accommodate the special needs of those with dementia a progressive loss of brain function that can be caused by a multitude of diseases including Alzheimers disease and stroke.
Huger adheres to a social activity-based model in which residents are encouraged to interact through a variety of activities. On any given day youll find residents involved in anything from music and art to pet therapy. There are theme weeks and monthly outings as well as holiday dinners and community celebrations like the annual Fall Festival with students from nearby Orangewood Elementary School.

Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the HMLC Manager is responsible for maintaining installing repairing equipment and general maintenance for the entire campus. Provides support for other Maintenance and EVS staff as required. Provides routine maintenance on the following systems: plumbing electrical patient beds HVAC & refrigeration. Is HMLC Safety Rep at SJHMC. Must possess a clean driving record - required to do mail and supply runs twice a week to SJHMC using company van. Assist with room and event set up as needed. Some general housekeeping duties as assigned (i.e. carpet cleaning pressure washing sidewalks etc.). Some lawn maintenance may also be required. Assists in directing EVS Tech(s) and provides feedback related to cleanliness of cottages by performing regularly scheduled Q-Clean audits.
- Completes work requisitions as needed. Repairs installs replaces as needed for general cottage maintenance and equipment.
- Completes preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance work requests as assigned may include training/ inservicing staff.
- Performs daily rounds to monitor equipment and conditions.
- Assists the trades to respond to failures in the HVAC systems or refrigeration equipment. Understands building HVAC systems & refrigeration equipment and makes proper adjustments to support customer needs.

Qualifications
Minimum:
- Two (2) years experience in general maintenance or similar position
- High School diploma/GED
