Job Description
As a Machine Learning Intern at Pinterest within our monetization organization youll work on tackling new challenges in machine learning and artificial intelligence within ads. Throughout your internship youll join our engineering teams as we maneuver through exponential growth and massive scale while building awesome products and features creating visually rich experiences spearheading the discovery problem and pinpointing tomorrows engineering challenges. Within the Monetization ML Engineering team we try to connect the dots between the aspirations of Pinners and the products offered by our partners.
We offer a 12-week fall internship remotely or in our San Francisco Palo Alto or Seattle offices.
What youll do:
- Contribute in cutting-edge research in machine learning and artificial intelligence to personalize Pinterest
- Collect analyze and synthesize findings from data and build intelligent data-driven model
- Write clean efficient and sustainable code
- Use machine learning natural language processing and graph analysis to solve modeling and ranking problems across ads
- Scope and independently solve moderately complex problems
- Take proactive ownership over the completion and quality of your tasks and project with minimal guidance from your mentor manager and peers
What we are looking for:
- This role will be on our Lower Funnel Monetization team. We are looking for candidates with experience in recommendation systems
- Working towards a Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science ML Statistics Information Sciences or related field
- Machine Learning (ranking recommendation systems NLP content recommendations embedding information retrieval etc)
- Mastery of at least one systems languages (Java C Python) or one ML framework (Tensorflow Pytorch MLFlow)
- Practical knowledge of large scale recommender systems or modern ads ranking retrieval targeting marketplace systems
- Strong communicator and team player with a self-motivated mindset and the ability to find solutions for open-ended problems
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Publications at top ML conferences
- Passion for applied ML and the Pinterest product
In-Office Requirement Statement:
- We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means were not always working in an office but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection
- This role may require you to be located near an office for in-person collaboration and therefore may need to be located a commutable distance from one of our Pinterest offices.
In an effort to provide greater transparency we are sharing the base salary range for this position. Final salary is based on a number of factors including location travel relevant prior experience or particular skills and expertise.
