Job Description

Overview

Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924 CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan youll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery a level II neonatal intensive care unit a nationally accredited cancer center comprehensive neurosurgery advanced orthopedic program and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.

Responsibilities

A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge skills abilities and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition into practice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas listed below.

Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values patient/customer focus taking ownership health care knowledge teamwork clinical performance improvement service excellence decision making and critical thinking and patient safety.

  1. Evidence-based Practice (EBP) and Patient Care: Builds skills to utilize current evidence based practice knowledge the nursing process critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide holistic care to individuals across the lifespan and care continuum.
  2. Interprofessional Collaboration and Communication: Learns to collaborate and communicate with the interprofessional team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.

Qualifications

We are looking for a responsible and compassionate Registered Nurse with top-notch clinical skills a caring attitude and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. It is also important to display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively educate patients and their families on the in-home healthcare process.

Additional requirements for this role include:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Nebraska Iowa or nurse licensure compact
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a minimum of an Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Experience as a Registered Nurse preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association required
  • Specialty certification (ex: CCRN CNOR CEN) preferred
  • Additional certification or licensure may be required for some specialty areas
