JOB SUMMARY
Define scope of technical programs and develop effective quality solutions to challenges which involve unique or controversial problems. Creatively meet all company and industry requirements and apply site systems to achieve quality timely and cost-effective results. Give quality guidance and assistance to less senior professionals on related tasks.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields to resolve complex problems.
Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s of technical expertise.
Provide direction and position responsibility both inside and outside department lines on programs seeking new approaches to problems and new application of existing engineering or scientific principles.
Evaluate the results of programs and prepares reports and recommendations based on these evaluations. Identify and recommend improvements where established technology components and methodology are inadequate for solution. Keep informed of the advancement of technology as applied through ones area of technology. Prepare plans including schedules budgets and personnel requirements for solving technical tasks identified by management. Develop schedules monitor progress monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed. Communicate results and objectives verbally and in manuscripts form to customers colleagues and management. Occasionally prepare reports for external publication. Enhance expertise in field through leadership in local technical societies. Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures problem solving engineering reports technical papers and articles.
WORK HOURS: Up to a 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week) 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week) and 9/80s (9 hours/day five days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education: Ph.D. Degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5 years experience. Or a MS with 8 years of experience. BS with 10 years experience or more.
Experience
- Candidate shall demonstrate 5- or 10-years DOE DOD or NRC nuclear procurement and CGD experience commensurate with education criteria.
- Candidate shall demonstrate the ability to qualify as an electrical/mechanical procurement engineer and Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) subject matter expert.
- Engineer shall demonstrate proficiency in developing CGD; component procurement processes; NQA-1a-2009 CGD requirements; 10 CFR 830; DOE DOD or NRC CGD and procurement requirements and guidelines and Electric Power Research Institute guides.
- Candidate shall be able to perform field walk-downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated ability to produce high quality technically accurate and thorough CGD packages and conduct CGD technical evals peer reviews package approvals and meeting management defined expectations.
Demonstrate ability to identify and document equipment/component technical requirements critical characteristics acceptance requirements determine Like for Like Equivalency or New and identify dedication methods(s) for verification of acceptance criteria.
Demonstrate proficiency experience and knowledge with: NQA-1 2008/1a 2009 CGD requirements; 10CFR830; DOEDOD and/ or NRC procurement and CGD requirements and guidelines; Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) guides.
Skill
Demonstrate the ability to coordinate interface and communicate with management engineering facility operations quality assurance and test personnel.
Experience with Intergraph Smart Plant Foundation (SPF) Asset Suite Outlook
