National Grid is hiring a Lead Analyst for our Policy & Regulatory Strategy team. This role can be based in our Waltham Massachusetts or Brooklyn NY offices. This is a hybrid role with a mix of office and remote work within National Grids service territory.
The energy transition presents challenges and opportunities for us as a business and for the wider sector requiring careful balancing of objectives across decarbonization affordability and energy system reliability. Our team evaluates these issues and designs policy and regulatory frameworks to support an effective energy transition for National Grids U.S. operations in New York and Massachusetts and the nearly six million customers we serve.
This position will contribute to these efforts by conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis leading the development of policy and regulatory proposals and collaborating with internal teams to address key challenges facing the energy industry.
Provide technical financial and strategic analysis to advance regulatory and policy priorities within National Grid.
Prepare regulatory proposals and supporting material public comments on regulatory and policy proposals and internal policy and strategy materials.
Distill complex information into clear and concise information for leadership (e.g. presentations memos reports) and external stakeholders (e.g. regulatory testimony and other filings.)
Participate in internal working groups to identify and assess key regulatory strategy issues and support alignment across functions.
Capture and analyze trends across the industry related to new utility business models rate design regulatory frameworks and integration of advanced technologies.
Other related duties as assigned.
Education: Undergraduate degree required such as in public policy economics environmental science business engineering etc. Advanced degrees or certificates in policy law business or other relevant field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years relevant work experience with a focus on utility regulation utility business models and climate and energy policy.
Analytical skills: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex issues and recommend data-driven solutions; experience with quantitative analysis and modeling; ability to synthesize data and produce visuals and reports that inform decision-making.
Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp complex and technical issues for a given domain and identify policy regulatory and commercial implications.
Proven ability to communicate tactfully and effectively both orally and in writing and must be able to present information in a clear and concise manner to large groups senior management internal stakeholders and external audiences.
Success working independently handling multiple tasks and determining priorities in a team environment balanced by an ability to collaborate effectively and translate smoothly across multiple disciplines or functional groups.
Salary
$127k - $149k a year in Waltham MA.
$136k - $160k a year in Brooklyn NY.
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
