Description


The District Resource Counselor supports school counselors across all grade levels (UTK12) and plays a key role in advancing district-wide programs and services including supports for foster youth military youth unhoused families social-emotional learning graduation Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE) and ADA/Section 504 compliance and consultation. This position involves frequent travel to school sites to collaborate with counselors on developing and implementing comprehensive data-driven school counseling programs aligned with the ASCA domains (academic college/career and social-emotional development) and with priorities and goals identified at both the district and school-site levels. Typical responsibilities include co-planning mentoring new counselors modeling effective counseling practices analyzing site-level data and facilitating professional learning. The role also includes contributing to district-wide planning through interdepartmental collaboration.

Examples of Duties

There are currently two (2) 11 month Head Counselor II positions open.

Support the development and implementation of multi-tiered SEL and mental health strategies at school sites

Assist with data analysis and outcome-based assessments to strengthen counseling programs

Provide consultation on district policies graduation requirements modified diploma pathways and partial credit practices

Serve on the district-wide Emotional Crisis Response Team and respond to critical incidents

Plan and deliver professional development and monthly counselor meetings; contribute to the department master calendar

Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to coordinate student services

Support TUPE implementation including advisor training program monitoring and site-level prevention/intervention strategies

Provide ADA/Section 504 training and compliance support including consultation on accommodations and access

Share best practices and guidance related to students in foster care students experiencing homelessness and military-connected and justice-impacted youth.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified applicants must have a valid Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential.

Credential must be registered with the California Commission of Teacher Credentialing by the closing date of the application deadline.

Minimum of four years of experience as a school counselor is required

Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative in a district setting

Experience providing leadership or mentorship to school counselors or leading site-based or district-level initiatives is highly preferred

Proven ability to facilitate professional development lead meetings and/or support adult learners in collaborative environments

Experience supporting district-wide programs or initiatives including collaboration across multiple school sites and departments

Demonstrated ability to engage in reflective practices that promote collaboration equity and honest professional dialogue

Preferred experience implementing Tier I research-based interventions that support social-emotional development and wellness

Experience implementing multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) to address students academic social-emotional and college/career development needs

Experience supporting high school students in meeting graduation requirements monitoring academic progress and facilitating post-secondary and financial aid planning is highly preferred

Understanding of the school counselors role in advancing equitable access and dismantling systemic barriers within the school setting

Ability to balance multiple priorities manage complex tasks across various timelines and adapt to shifting district or site-level needs

Experience coordinating student-centered events that support transitions between grade levels (e.g. elementary to middle middle to high school high school to post-secondary)
