We encourage applications from women people of color people with disabilities veterans and other candidates from underrepresented backgrounds and with diverse experiences interested in this opportunity.About the PositionThe KUGS Operations Manager ensures consistent and quality programming at the 89.3 KUGS FM radio station and the Wavelength digital media program. The position reports to the KUGS General Manager and serves as the on-site manager in the absence of the General Manager. The KUGS Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining the daily program logs including the rotation of all pre-recorded announcements pre-recorded programs FCC required announcements coordination of and utilization of automation software system. The KUGS Operations Manager also coordinates KUGS in-house audio production of promotional spots public service announcements news and public affairs programs and underwriting announcements. This position engages in front-end troubleshooting of technical issues that arise at the station and supervises the KUGS Maintenance/In-Studio Engineer and any third-party contracted repair work that is needed. The Operations Manager also supports volunteer onboarding and training initiatives at both KUGS and Wavelength especially regarding equipment use and maintenance.

The positions work schedule is authorized by the supervisor and is typically 40 daytime hours Monday-Friday which includes availability to support the activities of the Morning Show Host on a daily basis which begins at 6:30am or provide coverage in the absence of the Morning Show Host. This coverage can include remote access to the station as well as traveling to the station for in-person troubleshooting. The position also attends the KUGS all-staff meeting once per quarter which may go until 6pm.

This is a project-employment position ending no later than June 1 2027. The StateHR classification for this position is Program Specialist 2.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent education/experience
  • Knowledge of FCC and other federal state and local broadcasting regulations
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in live on-air radio programming or production
  • Experience with digital audio production software and broadcast automation systems
  • Demonstrated experience creating a work environment that is inclusive and welcoming for a diverse community of students and/or staff
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a wide range of communities and diverse perspectives
  • Ability to effectively provide instruction guidance and training to others on radio equipment and on-air tasks
  • Experience with or ability to quickly learn Microsoft Office suite of software such as Excel Outlook Word etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in a related field such as broadcasting communications media studies
  • Experience with broadcast engineering
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Familiarity with and appreciation for Student Operated Radio
  • Experience using Content Depot Enco and Adobe Audition
