This position functions as a first-line manager of professional positions in a complex work area and serves as the Michigan Department of Transportations (MDOTs) Learning Development Acknowledgement & Surveys (LDAS) Unit Manager responsible for the leadership management and coordination of all learning professional development acknowledgement surveys technical training and education support department-wide and statewide for MDOT. The department is committed to evolving to meet the changing demands of the workforce. The Unit Manager supervises the LDAS Unit and coordinates with MDOT departments human resources industry partners and educational institutions to lead the effective delivery of MDOTs LDAS activities and initiatives. The position ensures alignment and oversees programs including the MDOT University SharePoint page National Highway Institute (NHI) classes professional development opportunities State of Michigan (SOM) Learning Center for MDOT the Directors Award MDOT Education Support Program Retirements Simply Super Service Awards Years of Service People First Award all department-wide surveys the MDOT Technical Training Program running of the Horatio S Earle Learning Center and maintaining multiple MDOT conference rooms maintaining and trouble-shooting the audio visual technology system at the Earle Center and in the Van Wagoner Building. Parts of the Employee Lifecycle House Pillar are also administered in the LDAS Unit (Onboarding Performance Management Learning & Development Disembarking).
The Salary listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate through the maximum rate of the Departmental Manager 14 position.

Education
Possession of a bachelors degree in any major.
Experience
Four years of professional experience including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.
Special Requirements Licenses and Certifications
Alternative experience qualifications of nonprofessional experience previously identified by the appointing authority and approved by Civil Service will be accepted as a substitute for the required classified professional experience for the classification. The nonprofessional experience must be related to departmental programs and services that provide the required knowledge skills and abilities. Individuals appointed must possess the department-specific alternative experience for positions within that agency only.
