What can you expect

As the Environmental Scientist III you will utilize your knowledge to participate in collecting synthesizing and documenting data from investigated areas and assisting in the preparation of project documentation in addition to providing field support as needed including field site supervision. Personal initiative and critical thinking skills are essential to complete job duties with minimal guidance. Assignments are deadline driven so must be able to set priorities take ownership of projects work efficiently and provide a consistent level of high quality in a high-pressure environment.

How will you do it

  • Conduct and oversee site inspections assessments investigations and cleanups in accordance with state and federal regulatory guidelines and as directed by project management staff.
  • Work with environmental technicians and other technical staff in data collection site inspection/investigation and evaluation of data collected in support of environmental project objectives.
  • Prepare technical evaluations of investigated sites using RCRA guidelines.
  • Provide scientific and technical guidance support coordination and oversight to project staff preparing written project documentation.
  • Review and document the processes necessary to obtain develop and/or update environmental permits plans reports licenses and other requirements necessary to achieve environmental compliance and restoration project objectives.
  • Prepare and review technical documents in accordance with environmental technical standards guidelines policies and formal regulations to ensure documents meet all appropriate requirements.
  • Prepare charts or graphs from data samples providing summary information on the environmental relevance of the data.
  • Determine data collection methods to be employed in site surveys and investigations.
  • Lead a proactive safety culture.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Supervisory Functions:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities but will require coordination with other company personnel.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the practical application of environmental engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles techniques procedures and equipment to the design and production of various environmental services.
  • Detailed Knowledge and understanding of RCRA CERCLA NPDES CWA OPPA CAA and other applicable laws legal codes government regulations executive orders and agency rules governing environmental projects and programs.
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Ability to use analytical skills alongside scientific rules and methods to solve problems and apply logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Basic computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs.
  • Effective oral and technical written communication skills to effectively and clearly communicate complex information to others as well as to present information in front of a group.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multi-task and confidentially process and maintain data with accuracy with directions and mentors.
  • Ability to effectively lead projects and work with multi disciplined teams.
  • Ability to proactively identify tasks to be completed be self-directed and accountable for results.
  • Ability to communicate effectively & collaborate productively
  • Ability to demonstrate positional expertise.
  • Ability to understand the business and finance needs.

Who is Brice Solutions looking for

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in physical or environmental science.
  • Seven to fifteen years of experience working on environmental projects.
  • Must meet ADECs definition of a Qualified Professional.
  • Familiar with 18 AAC 75 (ADEC Oil and Hazardous Substances and Pollution Control Regulations) 18 AAC 78 (ADEC UST Regulations) and the ADEC Draft Field Sampling Guidance Manual.
  • Experience in federal government projects is highly desired.
  • A broad understanding of federal state and local environmental regulations.
  • Experience with Health and Safety functions a plus.
  • Valid state drivers license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Companys Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass drug and background screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations certificate preferred.
  • Hazardous Waste Operation and Emergency Response training with the current 8-hour refresher preferred.
