Job Description

The Assistant Professor for Criminal Justice will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching scholarly research and service. This role includes teaching a range of courses in criminal justice advising students conducting research and engaging in university and community service.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in criminal justice such as criminology criminal law policing courts corrections and research methods.
  • Develop and deliver innovative student-centered instruction in traditional online or hybrid formats.
  • Advise and mentor criminal justice majors including assisting with internships and career guidance.
  • Maintain an active research agenda in the field of criminal justice or criminology with a record of (or potential for) scholarly publications and conference presentations.
  • Participate in curriculum development assessment activities and program reviews.
  • Contribute to departmental college and university committees and initiatives.
  • Engage with local criminal justice agencies and organizations to foster community partnerships and student opportunities.
  • Support the universitys mission values and commitment to diversity equity and inclusion.


Education

  • A Ph.D. in Criminal Justice Criminology or a closely related field (ABD candidates will be considered with expected completion by start date).
  • Demonstrated teaching experience at the college or university level.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
