Overview

The Pharmacist Educator improves oversees and streamlines the educational needs of the department ensuring successful implementation and sustainability of pharmacy services. Educator works as an integral member of the pharmacy leadership team to oversee various departmental curriculum including but not limited to pharmacy technologies and clinical pharmacy services. Educator serves as content expert for information systems utilized by pharmacists and assesses training needs for software utilized by clinical pharmacists and specialists. Role may allow for remote work based on the needs of the department at the discretion of the supervisor.

New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles mumps rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus diphtheria acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. If you are selected for this position you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Streamlines training and education for the department. Develops training plan for onboarding employees and assists with pharmacist transitions to ensure success. Works with Pharmacist Team Leads to determine training schedules and framework for specialize
  • Serves as content expert for information systems utilized by pharmacists. Assesses training needs for EHR and other primary clinical software utilized by clinical pharmacists and specialists. Coordinates end-user involvement in the integration of clinical
  • Contributes to patient safety and quality improvement. Assumes educational responsibility for high-risk pharmacy processes which require a standardized training approach. Serves as a resource for the implementation of complex interdisciplinary medication

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree Pharm.D. or B.S. in Pharmacy and 3-5 years experience 3 years of experience or equivalent - 1 yr residency and one year working experience OR 2 yr residency (with one year management emphasis) may substitute for 3 years experience; Experience as a pharmacist in a hospital environment with responsibility for coordinating pharmacy services would be most helpful for this position
  • Licensed Pharmacist - MO
  • Employees must obtain Licensed Pharmacist - MO or equivalent within 90 days
  • Epic Credentialed Trainer Certification Required 180 Days
