Job Title: Transportation Lead Trainer
Reports to: Director of Transportation

Primary Purpose:
Ensure safe and orderly training of transportation personnel.
Education/Certification:
- Minimum of High School Diploma required
- Texas School Bus Driver Safety Training Certificate or a valid enrollment Certificate
- Valid Texas commercial drivers license (Class B with PS endorsements) with at least 2 years of experience with CDL
- At least 3 years school transportation experience
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Must pass DOT physicals and alcohol/drug tests
- Acceptable driving record in accordance with DPS standards
- Acceptable criminal history record
- Good computer skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to complete required bus driver safety training
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively
- Knowledge of student discipline procedures and ability to manage student behavior
- Ability to safely operate a school bus
- Working knowledge of office equipment such as copiers scanners fax and computers
- Knowledge of multi-line phone system
- Proficient map reading skills
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assume bus driver duties as needed.
- Participate in the employee training activities of the Transportation department to ensure that employees are optimally trained to operate a district school bus and adequately serve the transportation needs of the students
- Maintain an orderly work environment
- Conduct accident retraining when needed
- Maintains the transportation training program that in compliance with DOT DPS TEA and FMCSA regulations policies and procedures
- Ensures all employees are trained on all aspects of the program
- Makes presentations during driver in-service training and small group meetings and assists in department-wide staff development programs as needed
- Assist in school bus emergency evacuation training
- Serves as focal point to in-process new employees for the department
- Cooperates with other management personnel in formulating administrative and operational policies and procedures
- Serve as a substitute bus driver or monitor as needed performs duties and functions of these positions and maintains all licenses and certifications required to perform these duties
- Attends conferences and meetings (both in and outside the district) to enhance professional development and growth
- Perform behind-the-wheel evaluations of all drivers and random field observations as necessary
- Perform post-accident training
