Job Description

Position Summary

The Instructor is responsible for the planning preparation presentation and evaluation of classroom or online instruction and related activities. The Instructor is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day evening or weekend on any College campus as assigned. As a minimum the related activities include instruction academic advising serving on various committees participating in local state regional and national professional activities and organizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assume personal responsibility for instruction in all classes assigned.
  • Assist in departmental projects such as the preparation/selection of departmental course syllabi collection and analysis of learning outcomes data selection of textbooks/materials etc.
  • Master software and technology as needed in order to enhance instruction; develop and deliver web-based instruction in accordance with standards set by the College.
  • Maintain currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education.
  • Foster a customer service environment for fellow employees students and visitors. Be an Ambassador for the College. Support the colleges initiative to maximize retention of current students and enable students to finish their collegiate goals.
  • Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees the ACCS Chancellors Office and the College.
  • Participate in College functions (Award and Honor events Alumni Homecoming Commencement Parson Days etc.)
  • Assume other work related responsibilities as assigned by the appropriately assigned College administrator.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Music or a closely related field - REQUIRED
  • Experience directing bands or other instrumental ensembles - REQUIRED
  • Experience teaching music lessons and/or music classes - REQUIRED
  • Availability to conduct band/ensemble practices and performances during various times of the day and evening including on weekends - REQUIRED
  • Experience directing bands or other instrumental ensembles at the college level - PREFERRED
  • Experience teaching music lessons and/or music classes at the college level - PREFERRED

L - $28000 -$hours per week .
