Job Description

NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK Minuteman High School is seeking a dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional to provide building-wide support across academic and vocational-technical (CTE) classrooms. This position plays a critical role in supporting students with IEPs in a range of instructional environments working under the supervision of licensed teachers and special educators. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with both academic and CTE instructors contribute to school-wide goals and support initiatives that integrate academic and vocational instruction. A commitment to student achievement safety and continuous professional growth is essential. Major Responsibilities: Support students with disabilities in both academic and CTE settings. Supervise students at all times to ensure a safe and structured environment. Implement classroom and shop safety procedures. Assist in managing classroom behavior and maintaining instructional standards. Work one-on-one or in small groups to provide targeted academic and vocational instruction. Support lesson delivery by preparing materials demonstrations and equipment as directed by teachers. Tutor students in both academic and technical subjects. Assist students in understanding and applying correct procedures and techniques. Collaborate with instructors to deliver IEP accommodations and modifications. Transport students as needed using Minuteman vehicles. Substitute for teachers when necessary. Participate in professional development and department initiatives. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or designee. Major Responsibilities: Supervise students at all times. Proven ability to work with children with a variety of disabilities. Implement program/classroom safety procedures. Assists the supervising teacher in setting and maintaining reasonable standards of classroom behavior and performance. Present topics relevant to the program/class under the guidance of the teachers. Locate and compile information and prepare activities demonstrations equipment and other materials used in the CTE programs and Academics. Work one to one or in small group to deliver instruction based on students needs. Tutor individual students or groups in subjects that require basic to advanced knowledge of CTE programs and Academics. Work in Academic and CTE classrooms supporting the educational needs of students with IEPs in accordance with all state and federal laws and regulations. Review students work for correct procedures in order to develop skills and techniques related to CTE programs and academics. Transport students as needed in Minuteman vehicles. Fill-in for teachers when needed. Other duties as necessary. Other duties as assigned by Principal or their designee. QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelors degree preferred. Experience working with students with disabilities strongly preferred. Ability to collaborate effectively with instructional staff. Strong communication and organizational skills. Willingness to support instruction in a variety of academic and technical areas. Valid drivers license (required for student transport). Ability to meet physical demands of working in shop and classroom settings. Proficient with the use of technology. Ability to create a healthy environment for students to learn. Have experience working with students on IEPs. Teaching experience preferred. Flexibility and open to new ideas and processes. Have the ability to assist students within a variety of academic and shop settings. Conditions of employment Equipment Used: Copier fax machine smart board phone computer hand tools Physical Demands: Most of the time is spent on your feet working with and observing students while they work in a career and technical program or academic area. On occasions you may need to move or lift light articles. This position may require long periods of standing and lifting up to 50lbs. The teacher may also be required to operate hand tools/motor equipment and may work in confined spaces with exposure to dust smoke fumes and gases. Evaluation Schedule: Yearly
