Job Description

Summary

The Network Operations Analyst supports the mission of The Museum of Flight by configuring maintaining and enhancing the Museums network infrastructure. This position ensures reliable connectivity robust security and forward-thinking design to meet evolving organizational needs. Working closely with the Director of IT and broader technology team the Network Operations Analyst plays a key role in delivering stable high-performance operations across LAN WAN wireless and cloud-connected systems. This role also contributes to the Museums strategic objectives including data accessibility operational resilience and the implementation of scalable network solutions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Maintain and optimize LAN/WAN VPN wireless networks and firewalls.
  2. Proactively troubleshoot network issues and implement solutions to minimize downtime.
  3. Conduct security monitoring and conduct vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance.
  4. Support infrastructure upgrades system integrations and cloud networking.
  5. Manage vendor relationships and collaborate with IT leadership on strategic initiatives.
  6. Document network configurations policies and troubleshooting guidelines.
  7. Provide training and technical support to internal team.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in computer science Information Technology or a related field or commensurate experience.
  • Four (4) years of progressive experience in complex and non-uniform network environments; engineering design and analysis.
  • Experience with non-profit educational or museum environments is a plus.
  • Proven track record in managing technology projects including planning execution monitoring and closing.

Knowledge

  • Foundational understanding of network infrastructure including LAN WAN VPNs wireless networking and firewall configurations.
  • Familiarity with common network protocols and basic troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Awareness of cybersecurity principles related to network security access controls and incident response.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft 365 cloud-based networking and hybrid environments.
  • Basic understanding of data governance and compliance in a non-profit or museum setting (e.g. PCI HIPAA COPPA FERPA).

Skills

  • Skilled in drafting and updating network topology diagrams procedures and standard operating procedures.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional coordination.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining attention to detail.

Abilities

  • Ability to analyze and interpret network traffic patterns and logs.
  • Ability to assess network performance and recommend proactive solutions.
  • Ability to assist in configuring monitoring and troubleshooting network systems under supervision (e.g. Cisco IOS Fortinet Ubiquiti Wireshark SolarWinds Aruba).
  • Willing and able to learn and integrate new technologies in prompt and effective manner.
  • Able to assist in long-term infrastructure planning and architectural design.
  • Comfortable supporting both end users and IT team members in resolving connectivity and security issues.
  • Willing and able to work in physical and technical environments including cabling and hardware installs in a varied and challenging environment.

License & Certification

  • Cisco CCNA or equivalent.
  • Able to fulfill certification in the operation of lift equipment that include scissor and boom lifts.
  • ITIL 3 required ITIL 4 preferred.
  • CISSP Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate preferred.

  • Schedule is set by the department director; primarily Monday through Friday during core business hours with the anticipation of additional hours including evenings and/or weekends based on Museum need.
  • On-site attendance is essential to perform some of the duties of this position.
  • Occasional travel may be expected.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Occasionally able to properly lift up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • This position works in an office environment with long sedentary periods and repetitive wrist and arm movement.
  • The ability to focus bend carry reach to the side front and overhead push pull walk stand twist squat and crawl from frequent to occasional as required in an IT installation setting.
  • Work on overhead catwalks ladders of varied heights elevated platform lifts and work in confined workspaces.

Benefits

The Museum of Flight offers full-time employees benefits which include 2 weeks of accrued sick leave (80 hours) per year for the first 4 years 10 paid working holidays 403(b) retirement plan and a 25% discount at the Museum Store.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $31.00- $43.00 per hour depending on experience.

Should you receive an offer please expect that it can fall anywhere within this range. A multitude of factors will determine a fair salary based on the following: scope of role within the organization years of relevant experience specific skills and evaluation of capability to execute in role successfully (among other critical factors).
