Key Responsibilities
The transformational effect of Avon Park School is consistently recognised by parents carers and professionals. The schools ability to connect and engage with pupils stems from its strong ethos of high expectations and aspirations for every child which recently contributed to its Outstanding rating by Ofsted.
Clinicians at the school play a vital role within one of the most integrated models in SEND. Across the clients network of specialist schools and childrens homes they deliver exceptional levels of clinical support both in expertise and scope. The young people supported often present with complex needs including developmental trauma neurodevelopmental conditions and special educational needs.
As part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team the Speech & Language Therapist will support educational and residential colleagues in creating therapeutic living and learning environments. Based on clinical assessment and formulation the therapist will provide individualised interventions and engage directly with young people. The role also involves assessing mental health needs and recommending appropriate interventions through personalised care plans. Building strong rapport is essential to delivering effective counselling and providing meaningful feedback on progress.
