The Department of Anthropology Sociology Criminal Justice & Social Work at Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a field director. The home campus for this position is Bloomsburg. About the Department: The Social Work Department at Commonwealth University includes BSW program options at three locations and an online program. The MSW program is based at the Bloomsburg location with plans to transition to fully online. Duties
Duties of the Field Director for the BSW and MSW programs fall into the categories of Field Administration Field Coordination Field Direction and Field Liaison and are detailed below but are not limited to the following. Field Administration Provide leadership in the on-going development and implementation of BSW and MSW field education programs Ensure compliance with CSWE Educational Standards in relation to field education in order to support quality field education experiences. Provide leadership regarding field education as it pertains to accreditation and ongoing review processes as required by CSWE . Develop implement and manage data collection related to field education outcomes. Process data and report field education outcomes as required by CSWE including student assessments to meet benchmarks student evaluation of field placements and field agencies and agency supervisor evaluations of BSW and MSW Field Education Collaborate with and maintain relationships with the University Office of Assessment and Planning the Center for Professional Development and Registrar. Work with ProfessionalU to monitor obtain and maintain affiliation agreements with qualified field agencies. Participate in and collaborate with professional organizations such as North American Network of Field Educators and Directors the Tri-State Field Consortium CSWE NASW to maintain best practices and develop innovative field opportunities. Develop maintain and update all required documentation for BSW and MSW Field Education per CSWE including but not limited to: BSW and MSW Field Manuals field policies and procedures Safety guidance field assignments field evaluations process for vetting qualified field agencies process for vetting and approving field supervisors process for addressing concerns in the field. Collaborate with the University of Pittsburgh Child Welfare Education for Baccalaureates ( CWEB ) and Child Welfare Education Leadership Program ( CWEL ) to initiate acceptance as a Title IV-E CWEL approved school and serve as a liaison between CWEB / CWEL and students to recruit participants into the stipend providing field opportunity. Maintain student agency and field supervisor records on database and/or Field software Serve as ad hoc member of MSW Advisory Board Field Coordination Develop and support community partnerships with local and regional organizations to provide impactful student learning experiences that also benefit organization and community. Develop and support partnerships with other Campus programs and organizations to provide impactful student learning experiences including but not limited to the Graduate Assistantships that also benefit the university and other students. Recruit and vet appropriate field supervisors who are on-site supervising students completing field education Coordinating and conducting introductory practicum site visits. Develop and provide field instructor training to educate agency field supervisors to the MSW curriculum supervision evaluation and practice needs. Develop and provide Field Orientation and Information sessions to Field Agency Supervisors Develop and implement FTF and virtual field training workshops for internship agencies students and field supervisors including opportunities for continuing education unit ( CEU ) training and maintain appropriate paperwork to ensure compliance with the PA Social Work Licensure Board Manage the field placement application and agency matching process for students Utilize technology including Zoom to facilitate efficient communication with students field staff and agencies Field Direction and Advisement Meet with students individually and as needed Provide trainings to students on such topics as: securing field placement; developing Learning Plan; Safety in Field Field Supervision and others as needed Provide support to and problem-solve with field consultants and intervene promptly in resolution of problems experienced by students or agencies; Authorize any changes of placement necessary for students in collaboration with the student Field Liaison current Field Instructor Support Faculty/Community Field Liaisons with linkages between the agencies and the School during the problem mediation process and referrals to the Committee on Academic and Professional Standards for students. Mediate placement conflicts conduct plan of action meetings for students of concern and reassign students at field sites as needed; Monitor assigned field placements and communicate with BSW and MSW Program Directors regarding any disruptions or issues. Collaborate with academic advisors and instructors to address academic issues as they relate to field placement. Coordinate the provision of supplemental supervision to students in Field Placements with no qualified social worker present per CSWE guidelines. Provide supervision to students as needed Oversee MSW graduate assistants who are completing campus-based Field Placements Work collaboratively with the BSW and MSW Program Directors BSW Field Director and field liaisons to identify gaps in training and outreach Provide guidance/oversite to BSW and MSW field liaisons. MSW Field Liaison/teaching load Serve as Field liaison for no more than one section of Field in each semester (fall spring summer) teach the associated Field Seminar ( SOWKor 598) Maintain associated Tevera and Brightspace/D2L page for this section of Field grading field assignments monitoring field hours Conduct agency site visits with field instructor and student at least once per semester to maintain ongoing communication between student agency and university Distribute and collect end of semester field evaluation of students via Tevera. Address problems in field as they arise; consult with MSW Director and Social Work Program Chair if needed Maintain open lines of communication between MSW Program Director students and field instructors related to any potential conflict of interest as MSW Field Director would usually provide supervision/oversight to liaison.
