Building and Grounds Department Summer Employee Salem Public Schools Salem MA Summer 2025

Work Hours: Monday-Friday 6am-2pm

We invite you to learn more about our strategic plan and core priorities on our website at Description: As a summer employee in the Building and Grounds Department with Salem Public Schools you will gain practical experience and valuable insights into the maintenance and upkeep of educational facilities. This position offers a hands-on learning opportunity to support the maintenance and custodial staff in ensuring a safe clean and functional environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Maintenance Tasks: Work alongside skilled professionals in performing general maintenance and repair tasks within school buildings and on school grounds including but not limited to painting minor plumbing and carpentry work.
  • Custodial Support: Aid the custodial team in maintaining cleanliness throughout the school which may involve cleaning organizing moving furniture and assisting with waste disposal.
  • Grounds Maintenance: Contribute to the upkeep of school grounds by participating in landscaping mowing weeding and general outdoor maintenance activities.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Learning and Development: Take advantage of this opportunity to learn from experienced professionals ask questions and actively participate in various aspects of building and grounds maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled or past student in Salem Public Schools
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and contribute to the team.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Highly responsible.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Able to take directions.

Pay: Stipend/TBD
