Job Description

Job Goal:Contributes to the efficient operation of a school office

Qualifications:

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent
  2. Demonstrated competency in typing and word processing
  3. Formal training beyond high school preferred

FLSA Status:Non- Exempt

Reports To:Principal or Appropriate Supervisor

Background Check Required: (Ala. Code 16-22A-5) Upon offer of employment employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks may not be more than ten (10) years old.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  1. Demonstrated keyboarding skills using a computer.
  2. Basic knowledge and skills in operation of computer programs and related technology.
  3. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students administrators teachers and other co-workers.
  4. Be capable of moving and lifting moderately heavy weights.
  5. Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as need in a fast-paced high-intensive work environment.

Essential Functions:

  1. Prepares letters memos reports various forms etc.
  2. Answers telephone and meets the public.
  3. Maintains student attendance and other student records.
  4. Receives examines and routes incoming mail and correspondence.
  5. Processes free and reduced lunch applications.
  6. Prepares material for the beginning and end of the school year.
  7. Files correspondence invoices cards records and reports.
  8. Maintains confidentiality regarding school personnel and students.
  9. Performs related duties as assigned.
  • This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools.
  • Under the Students First Act of 2011 no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.

Expected Employment:187days/8hrs (full year)

Evaluation:According to established Board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines

Salary: According to Madison City Schools Salary Schedule (Salary based on employment for complete year). Up to 10 years experience will be counted for new employees who provide documentation of full-time experience in the area of concentration.
