You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailA Research Assistant position is available at the Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research Ithaca New York to support research investigating the regulation of tomato fruit development by applying biochemistry cell biology and genetic approaches.
The responsibilities of this position include:
Perform molecular biology laboratory techniques such as DNA/RNA extractions PCR plasmid construction.
Tomato tissue collection and preparation for histological and microscopy analysis.
Carry out experiments for protein expression and purification.
Care and maintenance of tomato plants in the greenhouse. This includes fruit tagging and collection plant pruning and seed collection.
Help with general lab maintenance tasks such as preparing buffers and reagents maintaining laboratory equipment and record keeping.

B.S. degree in Plant Biology Biochemistry/Molecular Biology Plant Genetics or related field. Knowledge of standard laboratory equipment and reagent preparation is required and experience with some or all of the research methods mentioned above will be preferable.
