The Wastewater Conveyance System Monitor II remotely drives a robotic camera through pipelines to visually observe active pipes that humans cannot observe in person. This position identifies pipe abnormalities and are the leading edge for the department in noticing and proactively preventing system failures which is fundamental to State Environmental requirement compliance for the department. Proficiency in computer operation and use of specialized software applications troubleshooting diagnosing and repairing of specialized remotely operated camera equipment is essential in this position. You will also be responsible for training and oversight of other staff and technical collaboration with peers management and the public.
Essential Functions:

Leads and trains staff in sanitary sewage metering CCTV inspections and odor control techniques;
Performs operational and preventive maintenance on complex wastewater systems including monitoring flow and odor levels;
Installs operates and maintains flow monitoring CCTV and odor control equipment;
Installs troubleshoots and repairs computerized monitoring devices CCTV equipment and SCADA systems;
Inspects and documents data on odor levels flow rates pipeline conditions and meter operations;
Assesses pipelines and manholes for structural integrity and flow conditions following NAASCO standards;
Assists in implementing complex flow CCTV or odor control projects providing recommendations for system enhancements;
Sets up traffic control devices for safe manhole entry to service metering or CCTV equipment;
Provides public information on sanitary sewer systems;
Participates in selecting locations for wastewater monitoring and coordinates activities to comply with regulations;
Conducts special surveys for stormwater inflow and planning purposes;
Collaborates in developing new techniques for wastewater measurement and condition assessment;
Maintains cleans and repairs equipment;
Maintains and operates assigned County equipment and vehicle;
Manages automated data systems for documentation and reporting;
Performs confined space entries in sewer manholes and other locations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of three college-level classes from an accredited college university or trade school in physical or environmental science AND two years of experience in environmental technology.
(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)
OR:
Two years of experience in the maintenance and/or operation of sanitary sewage treatment/conveyance facilities AND six months of experience as a lead which can be concurrent with the required experience.

OR:
One year with Pima County as a Wastewater Conveyance System Monitor I.

Preferred Qualifications: (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):
Minimum one (1) year experience performing sanitary sewer conveyance system inspection.
Minimum two (2) years experience utilizing Infor Public Sector and/or GraniteNet to record and finalize inspections and work orders.
Minimum three (3) years experience as a Conveyance System Monitor I and/or Utility Maintenance Worker.
NASSCO PACP/MACP/LACP Certifications (pipeline/manhole/lateral assessment certification programs).
Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Licenses and Certificates:Valid driver license is required at time of application.ValidAZdriver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicants suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services review and approval of the candidates driving record. For CCTV positions a National Association of Sewer Service Companies (NAASCO) pipeline manhole & lateral assessment certifications must be obtained within the probation period.

The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history education and criminal conviction history. Physical/Sensory Requirements: Some positions may require any or all of the following: lifting and carrying up to seventy-five pounds or more; safely operating assigned vehicles and other powered equipment; wearing required safety clothing and equipment; ascending and descending ladders and stairs to reach and work upon elevated or below-grade work platforms and job sites; differentiating between colors.
Working Conditions: Some positions may require any or all of the following: working in extremes of heat humidity dust cold; working with or in the presence of obnoxious odors; working with noxious or potentially hazardous chemicals compounds or products.
