Job Description

  • Contribute to the Law Schools teaching programs with a focus on domestic Environmental Law.
  • Full-time appointment on a tenurable basis.
  • Base salary range: Level B $113934 $134824 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

Established in 1927 UWA Law School is the fifth oldest Law School in Australia and is Western Australias premier Law School. We have a long and proud history of academic excellence providing a broad range of education programs and leading research projects with impact. The Law School comprises over fifty scholars engaged in teaching and research in law socio-legal studies and criminology. We offer undergraduate majors in Business Law Law and Society and Criminology a Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice a postgraduate Juris Doctor (JD) and several Masters courses. Continually evolving to meet current and future challenges we have a particular focus on the Indigenisation of the curriculum internationalisation and multi-disciplinarity. Our academic staff have been drawn from top universities around the world and have broad-ranging expertise in delivering quality teaching programs.

Scholars within the Law School are engaged in a diverse range of legal and socio-legal research areas covering public private international and domestic law as well as law and society justice studies and criminology. Our research projects are focused on producing valuable scholarship with real-world impact through a variety of written outputs (books journal articles research reports and submissions) as well as disseminating information through public lectures workshops online and within our taught programs.

About the opportunity

  • Contribute to teaching research research supervision and engagement activities within the Law School.
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate units courses in domestic Environmental Law as well as compulsory offerings in the JD and other undergraduate and postgraduate law programs as required.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities of an academic at the relevant level of appointment in your field of expertise.

About you

  • Completion of LLB or JD and completion of or significant progress towards completion of a PhD or equivalent in Law or a relevant postgraduate qualification in Law combined with professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver innovative teaching approaches assessments and materials for units and courses particularly in environmental law.
  • An emerging research profile in environmental law relative to opportunity.
  • Evidence of successful supervision or co-supervision of HDR students relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate well to staff and students at all levels and evidence of a commitment to principles of diversity equity and inclusion.
