Job Summary
The Associate Director Academic Engagement helps manage and lead academic support initiatives that promote student achievement and retention. This role works collaboratively with faculty staff and campus partners to enhance academic experience and ensure students have equitable access to learning resources. This position assists with the planning and execution of workshops academic programs tracking data usage and engagement initiatives.
Essential Functions
Assist in recruiting hiring training and supervising part-time staff Develop and deliver ongoing professional development workshops and resources for effective tutoring and coaching techniques Coordinate logistics for instructor-based test proctoring including scheduling secure testing protocols and record maintenance Maintain accurate records for tutoring appointments coaching sessions and exam administrations Collect analyze and visualize usage and performance metrics Assist with the operations of the academic success center (physical and online) and respond promptly to student inquiries Plan and promote academic success events workshops and outreach campaigns to drive student participation Help develop and manage online support mechanisms (e.g. tutorial videos live Q&A sessions resource portals etc.) and troubleshoot student issues Prepare periodic reports and recommendations for the Director of Academic Engagement and College leadership to inform strategic planning Uphold confidentiality FERPA and institutional policies in all academic support activities Represent the department at meetings campus committees and student success events Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in academic support Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision and the ability to adjust focus Frequently moves boxes or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds This position may require occasional travel for training meetings and events both in and out of town Ability to work extended hours including weekends and attend Midland College or community events
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree from an accredited university Experience working directly with students in an educational environment Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License good driving record and be insurable on Midland Colleges insurance policy
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in tutor training and academic resource development Ability to read and speak Spanish is a plus Experience supervising staff or student employees
