The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week and work remotely one day. A member of our recruitment team will provide more details.

The Vice President of Risk Management holds accountability for overseeing and executing the First Line of Defense Quality Control (FLoD QC) review for the Banks Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program. This role entails a comprehensive review and evaluation of documented risks as well as the design and effectiveness of mitigating controls. The incumbent will operate within the Operations Risk Governance team and collaborate with internal stakeholders from the Second and Third Lines of Defense in addition to other business partners to ensure thorough RCSA reviews including credible challenge assessments and responses. Detailed reporting and tracking of results are also integral components of this position.

This role requires a thorough understanding of the Banks policies and practices focusing on executing and implementing comprehensive first line testing and risk management programs. The successful candidate should have strong analytical skills attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct first line of defense review to evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of identified key risks and controls ensuring comprehensive coverage and reliability.
  • Support program enhancements by executing the RCSA framework and methodologies contributing to the continuous improvement of risk management processes.
  • Assist in quality assessments of RCSAs providing constructive feedback and recommendations to enhance effectiveness and reliability.
  • Review detailed RCSAs documentation and commentary including observations ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage and coordinate all risk activities to ensure material/key risks are identified escalated managed tracked and remediated timely maintaining robust risk oversight and governance.
  • Analyze aggregate and articulate results/recommendations related to QC activities to senior management enabling informed decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Provide day-to-day management oversight and longer-term development planning of the Operations Risk Management team primarily focusing on the RCSA program fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of banking operations; experience with risk and controls/control gap identification related to Operations Consumer and/or Commercial Banking/Lending Bank Operations Support and Corporate Functions.
  • Compliance expertise including AML/BSA Wires/Payment Operations Cross-Border Banking and Digital Banking is highly advantageous.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations rules regulations industry standards practices and expectations for regional/large banks ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Extensive experience in risk and control identification designing planning review/implementation of RCSAs and managing a testing/audit of the RCSA program.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with strong influential skills capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels and driving positive changes.
  • Experience working in a dynamic environment to execute an evolving second line of defense risk management program including the identification communication reporting escalation and validation of RCSA test results and remediation efforts.
  • Excellent written verbal organizational and presentation skills coupled with proficiency in MS Office Software Suite (Word Excel PPT Access and Visio).

The typical base pay range for this role is between $125K - $160K depending on job-related knowledge skills experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
