Job Description

The Assistant Professor of Public Health isresponsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in public health conducting scholarly research advising students and participating in service activities within the department college and university. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching research and community-engaged public health initiatives that support diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in areas such as epidemiology health promotion global health environmental health biostatistics or health policy.
  • Develop and update course materials to reflect current public health trends research and best practices.
  • Advise and mentor students in academic and professional development.
  • Engage in scholarly research and seek external funding to support public health initiatives.
  • Publish peer-reviewed journals present at academic and professional conferences and contribute to public health knowledge.
  • Collaborate with students and colleagues on research projects and interdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Participate in departmental college and university committees and service activities.
  • Support university outreach and public health partnerships with community organizations local health departments and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in program assessment accreditation efforts and continuous improvement processes.

Education

  • Doctorate (Ph.D. DrPH ScD) in Public Health or a closely related field from an accredited institution. ABD candidates nearing completion will be considered.
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience at the college/university level.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
