The position is responsible for working with members of the SPA leadership team to creatively showcase the schools mission vision and student faculty and alumni work and to advance the schools reputation locally and nationally. This includes managing the strategic position of the school by providing direction and implementation of marketing campaigns with a strong focus on recruitment coordinating marketing and communication for special events guiding market analysis and actively developing and implementing communication plans and strategies. This position is responsible for the marketing and communication strategies conceptualization design and production/oversight of marketing and communication materials shared through the SPA website social media internal communications external media and print collateral for the School and its Centers. This position will develop communication and marketing plans align strategies produce edit and publish a wide variety of content and requires excellent writing and editing skills.
The program director is a creative and experienced leader with a record of accomplishment in making data-driven decisions based in relevant research and metrics. The full-time position develops manages and implements marketing and communication strategies that support SPA and university goals. This role will work with SPA leadership university colleagues and external partners to position SPA as leader within Denver and with larger national audiences.
Collaboration Required
The person in this position will work closely with the SPA leadership team including the Dean Associate Dean for Student Success and Innovation Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs Assistant Dean of Administration Executive Director of Outreach Partnerships and Professional Learning. They will work directly with SPA staff members to create marketing and communications tools that support recruitment student services events academic and professional program management alumni relations finance and more. Overview of Centralized University Communications Model
University Communications (UComm) advances the mission of the university as well as its reputation and identity as a leading academic and urban research institution. UComm leverages strategic communications planning media relations branding marketing executive communications and a wide range of digital media to tell the stories of the university and its people in support of the universitys strategic goals and mission to serve students. Using a federated model college communicators are a vital part of the UComm team to align all efforts across the university. This is accomplished through collaboration and use of the skills and talents of the SPA director and the University Communications team to achieve objectives. The program director is the liaison to University Communications the central communications for the university. Working together they create an ecosystem where communications and marketing efforts are aligned and support our students.
Marketing and Communications Program Director
What you will do:
Leadership:
Collaborates with and serves as a consultant to SPA leadership faculty and staff as well as UComm staff and the Vice Chancellor for Marketing and Communications on a wide range of communications and marketing tasks serving as the primary point of contact for these products and services
Creates and implementsmulti-channel marketing and communications strategy that support the mission vision and strategic goals of SPA and CU Denver
Directs the work of marketing/communications and events for SPA
Builds and uphold community relationships with key stakeholders
Serves as the schools liaison and works collaboratively with other marketing and communication professionals on campus University Communications and in the university system.
Marketing:
Plan research execute measure and adjust programmatic and search digital marketing campaigns and brand awareness campaigns driven by KPIs conversions and analytics to drive enrollment growth for SPA programs.
Oversee and participate in the planning and completion of all print and digital communications including:
website design and content using required CMS platforms
writing for web with focus on SEO content
creating digital ad search ad and print ad copy
editorial planning and posting of social media content
news stories success profiles paid and earned media
print and digital recruitment and marketing materials.
Work with team to execute campus conferences symposia and events.
Identify and develop content for advertisements and sponsorships promoting the school.
Coordinates with third-party vendors/contractors involved in the production of publications and other marketing and communication materials.
Communications:
Develop and maintain effective contact lists and databases to be used for distributing publications news fundraising and event information.
Serve as a strategic partner in planning for and facilitating the internal communications of SPA
Draft edit and manage email communication initiatives such as newsletters invitations and announcements.
Work with SPA leadership to develop internal communications messages as needed
Work with UComm to support as needed for crisis or issues management in SPA
Work with SPA and UComm on strategic media outreach
Serve as the Schools primary marketing and communication representative to other campus offices
Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelors degree in marketing graphic design media arts interactive media journalism public relations communications public administration business (with a communication/marketing focus) or a directly related field from an accredited institution and proven professional experience in the fields of branding marketing and communications.
Extensive diverse and progressively responsible experience developing and executing successful strategy design marketing brand management and/or advertising initiatives.
Four years of relevant marketing/communications experience.
At least three years of experience in the areas of web development digital communication and/or social media marketing.
Successful experience in creating and standardizing metrics and analytics to assist in measuring the costs and impact of key messages communications strategies and tactics.
Experience working in CMS and CMM platforms
Substitution: A bachelors degree is preferred or equivalent combination of education certification and experience.
Preferred Qualifications to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
Masters degree in marketing journalism public relations communications business administration or another closely related field.
Five years of experience in a progressively responsible communications and/or marketing role including experience in creating and implementing communications and marketing strategies.
Experience working in a communications and marketing role in nonprofit government and/or higher education.
Demonstration of ability to increase enrollment or engagement in academic or volunteer programs evidenced in application materials
Two years of experience using CRM technologies
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Ability to write edit proofread publish and produce print and web content and communications materials.
Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
Outstanding customer service skills.
Familiarity with and capacity to employ web content management systems.
Professional expertise to innovate initiate and complete effective and research-based communication marketing and branding strategies.
Ability to use analytics to measure and evaluate marketing and communications strategies.
Ability to manage a diverse workload with multiple priorities.
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and other graphics programs.

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $89213 - $98604.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity experience education specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
