The role of the Lead Platform Architect - Infrastructure

As a Lead Platform Architect within our Fleet Infrastructure Team you will be a key driver and doer in a fundamental shift in how we architect and host our application estate to ensure that we can take our platform operating model to the next level. You will be an advocate to enable a composable technology foundation which will enable our Product development teams in building our digital foundation of the future to help delivering for our global customer base.

Your focus will be on both assisting in the ideation and realisation of what our next generation platform will encompass as well as then helping our Product teams in implementing products that are aligned to this long-term Platform vision.

To realise Maersks One Customer Journey a consistent and resilient platform is essential. You will be key in helping promote the right way in how we utilise technology in delivering on this promise.

To help to make our next generation platform successful we are looking for key individuals to join our Fleet Infrastructure Team to help shape this vision and be pivotal in transforming how we do business with customers and vendors.

As a Lead Platform Architect - Infrastructure you will demonstrate the following characteristics: -

The ideal candidate will have a background that spans architecture and operations. The ideal person should have experience leading Principal/Senior Infrastructure Engineers involved in Data Centre Operations.

  • You have proven background in delivering complex high performance highly available solutions

  • You are creative and come up with innovative approaches to projects and any issues that arise.

  • You are a doer. You get things done.

  • Sharing expertise and insights with other engineers & enterprise architects

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute technical engineering practices and engineering methodologies.

  • Work on our problems building high quality architecturally sound systems that are aligned with our business needs and help drive our platform vision forward

  • Handling and automating day to day administration tasks including systems reporting and system tuning

  • Good understanding of programming and scripting with the ability to create targeted ad-hoc custom solutions to specific problems the ability to design and write larger-scale applications able to function on a large server estate

  • Execute technology roadmap with the associated release goals. Execute POCs for new and upcoming strategic technology solutions.

  • Works in collaboration with other engineers

  • Representation of Maersk in external technology events and conferences.

Key Skills

  • Bachelors/masters degree in computer science Information Technology or Engineering

  • Hands-On Powershell expertise & other well-known scripting languages used in Infrastructure Automation.

  • Understanding of DevOps concepts & worked in KANBAN based working environment.

  • Active Directory Domain Services experience PKI & Certificate management.

  • Demonstrable IT Infrastructure knowledge across a wide range of technology towers e.g. Windows Server 2019/2022 Windows 10 OS Hyper-V Azure Storage Network and experience working with incidents in a mission critical environment.

  • Windows and Linux Exposure and familiarity.

  • Sound working knowledge and experience of 2nd/3rd line O/S Infrastructure Storage and technology platform support.

  • Knowledge of Azure HCI is good to have.

  • Server Hardware management/administration (Dell Blades VRTX Chassis -preferable) and support.

  • Hands-on experience working with service management tools like service now etc.

  • Working knowledge of Azure Cloud basics to intermediate

  • Capability to troubleshoot Microsoft Hyper-V and how it interacts with other parts of the infrastructure e.g. storage guest operating systems virtual networking etc.

  • Understanding of application topologies and how applications could and should be scaled for demand.

  • Good understanding of Application architectures.

  • Broad knowledge of IT Operations in an enterprise environment.

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft technologies e.g. Active Directory Hyper V SQL Server IIS and web hosting

  • Worked on anti-virus solutions- administration and maintenance. E.g. Trend Micro AV etc.

  • Experience working Windows server management/administration- Server 2016/2019/2022 & Windows 10.

  • A subject matter expect in engineering changes and trouble shoot incidents to a IPSEC VPN based Cisco network including LAN WAN and Wi-Fi

  • 6 years of experience in developing and/or deploying of Cisco based network infra-structure

  • Very familiar with Layer 1-4 specific for Cisco iWAN LAN and Wi-Fi

  • Experience with DMVPN deployment engineering and support

  • Familiar with BGP IPSEC DNS LDAP general application delivery QoS SCEP/PKI

  • Familiar in using network monitoring tools that involve syslog SNMP Netflow etc.

  • Additional certifications preferred such as

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

  • CompTIA Network

  • Experience with Python and/or other scripting languages is highly desirable
