The Binding Site VT part of Thermo Fisher Scientific specializes in the production of polyclonal antibodies primarily in sheep. We currently have a full-time position available for an EHS Quality and Regulatory Supervisor on our USDA registered sheep farm in Benson Vermont.
The EHS Quality and Regulatory Supervisor will oversee and lead all compliance-related activities at our site. This role will act as a primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and will ensure that the site operates in full compliance with all applicable standards and regulations while continuously making improvements in processes and performance.
We have two farms approximately 5 miles apart. At the main site we have a large lab facility and administrative offices (inside a converted farmhouse). This role will be office based but due to the nature of responsibilities requires being outside at times (all seasons) and in our lab environment as well. We provide appropriate PPE for these requirements and for all seasons. We would prefer and anticipate that the person in this role does actively/routinely traverse the sites in order to meet various requirements of the role. Any audit work or sustainability land work may require hands on outdoor participation as well.
Environment Health and Safety (EHS):
Direct and lead Environmental Compliance and Conservation efforts across approximately 600 acres of land ensuring compliance with Vermont Land Trust Vermont Current Use Nutrient Management Plans Forestry Management Plans Vermont Agency of Agriculture Agency of Natural resources and EPA.
Build and deploy sustainability initiatives and opportunities that align with the companys goals such as renewable energy projects waste reduction programs invasive species management water conservation efforts eco-friendly agriculture habitat protection and community outreach.
Deploy and maintain comprehensive EHS programs and procedures.
Monitor and report on EHS related performance metrics and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Lead audits incident investigations and risk assessments and develop action plans to prevent recurrence and to reinforce a safety culture that promotes an injury-free workplace
Coordinate and deliver EHS training programs to employees at all levels to ensure understanding and adherence.
Maintain global and local quality management systems to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards. Initiate and lead root cause analysis and corrective action for any issues or findings.
Monitor and report key performance indicators
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process improvements that enhance quality and operational efficiency.
Address and resolve quality-related issues promptly implementing corrective and preventive actions.
Coordinate and support internal and external audit schedules ensuring preparedness and compliance with ISO9001 requirements.
Ensure operations and production compliance with site specific regulations including USDA Animal Welfare Act IACUC GTC and local state agriculture and land requirements.
Stay updated on regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to company policies and procedures.
Liaise with regulatory bodies and participate in inspections and audits.
Lead initiatives to improve process efficiency and effectiveness.
Implement proven methods and continuous improvement methodologies.
Drive company wide PPI efforts.
Provide training and development programs for staff on compliance-related topics.
Champion a culture of compliance and continuous improvement across the site.
Bachelors degree highly preferred in Environmental Studies Safety Business Administration Engineering or a Science related field
May consider a lower education degree with at least 5 years of applicable experience
Prior supervisory or leadership experience would be ideal
Certifications Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) Associate Safety Professional (ASP) Registered Environmental Manager (REM) ISO 9001 or Other Related Certification.
In-depth knowledge of quality systems EHS regulations and regulatory requirements (GTC USDA local).
May require walking standing climbing and other physical activities.
Ability to work in various environmental conditions including exposure to noise dust and temperature variations.
This position operates in an office environment as well as in indoor and outdoor manufacturing and agriculture settings.
Occasional travel may be required to other company sites or for professional support or development.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Vermont is $75800.00$113675.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company team and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
