Job Description

Position Summary

A GMHILL Superintendent/SSHO is responsible for the overall field work on a GMHILL project leading subcontractor superintendents to remain vigilant on safety as we accomplish the mission always ensuring that company policies and procedures are met regarding safety scheduling budget quality and customer satisfaction. Experience and credentialing as a Superintendent/SSHO/CQM on federal USACE projects required. Must be comfortable writing Daily Reports (Activity Hazard Analyses) AHAs as part of a total risk management process and (Accident Prevention Plans) APPs with the site-specific plans programs and procedures required to complete the tasks assigned using EMas a guide. The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) will provide safety oversight and function as the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) in accordance with GM Hill Safety policies and will implement and administer the Contractors safety program and government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan. Applies experience in Procore and Resident Management System (RMS Contractor Mode and/or RMS Quality Control System QCS) to manage project documentation. This position is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all.

Key Tasks

Following is a general list of tasks falling into the Superintendents areas of responsibility:
Direct and coordinate GMHILLs trade contractors and their subcontractors when required to ensure they turn out high-quality work that meets the approved project schedule
Supervise the construction of a large project or multiple projects as primary safety representative in the field
Manage the project budget for general conditions and site services
Maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents to be able to coordinate trades plan and anticipate potential problems before they arise
Direct / Supervise all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule within budget with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications
Produce and review submittals with subcontractors suppliers and owners reps.
Promote and monitor job site safety compliance and productivity of all trades.
Obtain or verify that the subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction purposes
Resolve jurisdictional disputes
Advise Project Managers of potential problems work interference and schedule difficulties; assist in resolving problems and managing jobsite logistics as required
Conduct maintenance and planning of workarounds shutdowns and tie-ins
Prepare work schedule determine manpower requirements material quantities equipment needs and supervise completion offinal punch list
Establish credibility among Owners trade contractors unions etc. by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment
Maintain a positive work atmosphere ensuring actions and behaviors are respectful among all
Prepare and enforce the companys safety program on federal projects.
Meet the requirements of EM Section 1 and ensure that the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.16 are met for the project.
Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) shall always be on-site when work is being performed to implement and administer the Contractors safety program and government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan.
The SSHOs training experience and qualifications shall be as required by EM paragraph 01.A.17 entitled SITE SAFETY AND HEALTH OFFICER (SSHO) and all associated sub-paragraphs.
Must be on-site when the work that presents the hazards associated with their professional expertise is being performed.
The SSHO shall fulfill the required pre-requisite training and experience before being hired as the SSHO under this contract.
Must be fully knowledgeable of all safety environmental and energy requirements associated with the work they perform.

Education and Training Requirements:
High School diploma or GED required. Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Construction Management discipline preferred and minimum of 10-years experience in Superintendent SSHO Quality Control and/or federal construction management roles. Demonstrated record of federal project safety and success on work valued from $500K to $10M.
Procore Certified: Superintendent certificate (Can be acquired within 30 days of hire.)
OSHA 30 certifications and ARC First Responder Course completion
USACE Certified Quality Manager certification
First Aid/CPR certification
Bloodborne Pathogens Certified

Knowledge Skill and Competency Requirements:
Ability and willingness to travel throughout the operational regions.
The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
  • The ability to walk terrain and surfaces that may be far uneven or temporary
  • The ability to regularly sit stand walk talk and hear
  • The ability to frequently use hands to finger handle or feel
  • The ability to occasionally climb balance stoop kneel squat or reach
  • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Must have proficiencies with industry standard software such as Procore MSOffice Excel Word MS Project & Outlook. RMS experience is highly desired.
Customer Service able to personally provide high level of interactive service to targeted customer base/market building relationships and acting as internal company advocate
Team Orientation & Interpersonal highly motivated passionate and creative team-player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels within and external to the organization
Communication able to effectively and persuasively express self verbally and in writing using correct language and grammar in a professional diplomatic and tactful manner
Organization & Time Management able to work independently planning scheduling and organizing schedule to complete actions within established deadlines handling multiple priorities with strong attention to detail
Must be able to read and interpret complex project blueprints/plans and specifications; to include site/civil structural architectural mechanical and electrical drawings

Other:
U.S. Citizenship is required. Must be able to read write and speak English fluently. Must be able to pass background check drug screen and obtain a Federal security clearance (if required).
