Why this role matters
This is a unique opportunity to join the Injury Violence and Trauma research group at the School of Population Health dedicated to reducing the global burden of injury.
Some specific accountabilities required:
- Development and execution of complex statistical analysis plans for relevant research studies.
- Presentation of analysis findings to stakeholder groups.
- Preparation of peer reviewed manuscripts and reports for partners and other stakeholders on outcomes of analyses.
- Create scholarly impact which is recognised by peers in their field as an advancement of knowledge.
- Conduct research/scholarly activities under limited supervision either independently or as a member of a team (as per the norms of the discipline).
- Establish a personal research portfolio and start developing independent research proposals.
- Design research projects.
- Participate as co-investigator or chief investigator in competitive grant applications or show evidence of active participation in independent research.
- Prepare abstracts and presentations for national and international meetings.
- Assist with the supervision of research students in the research area where required.
Some key skills required:
- A PhD in a related discipline.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
- High level skills in the analysis of large linked data sets and relevant statistical packages such as Stata SAS or R
- Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
