DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Psychological Services Specialist you will have the opportunity to provide psychological and counseling services to individualswith all ranges of intellectual disability and dually diagnosed co-occurring mental health conditions. This professional serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team (IDT) and completes functional behavioral assessments analyzes psychological and behavioral issues provides recommendations to the team regarding psychological care and drafts and monitors progress surrounding mental health support actions (MHSA). You will also demonstrate and transfer the strategies in the MHSA to the direct care staff by directly interacting with the individual in the presence of the staff in addition to monitoring and observing the staff to ensure that the MHSA skills and strategies have been acquired and are being utilized appropriately. Within this role it is essential to possess the ability to provide emergency psychological care and to coordinate team efforts during emergency behavioral interventions including responding to rapid responses.
